SFG Medicare sponsors monthly program at the Daily Living Center
The Daily Living Center knows how to party! Between painting pumpkins, dancing to “Thriller,” painting faces, and scaring the staff here at SFG, we quickly learned we had our hands full with some lively seniors who love to party. Senior Financial Group sponsors a monthly program at the local Knoxville Adult Day Care. Each month we bring something new and different to these wonderful participants; little did we know, they had something new and different for us too, in the form of electronic rats that jumped out at us, and spiders that dropped from the ceiling. This month we brought pumpkins to decorate and we soon learned that we had some artists in this group. We enjoyed having another opportunity to spend time with the DLC Participants and bring smiles to each of their faces.
The Daily Living Center is a licensed Adult Day Care providing community-based services to Knox County residents age 60 or older who are in need of a structured program that will develop or improve daily living skills, foster independence through social interaction, and allow the individual to remain in the community rather than be institutionalized. The program is directed toward senior adults with low incomes, or those who are receiving Adult Protective Services from the Tennessee Department of Human Services. Income eligibility and fee structures are established by the Tennessee Department of Human Services Social Service Block Grant guidelines. Most participants pay little, or nothing, and may attend 2 to 5 days a week. The Daily Living Center’s hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Center is located at 3900 Probus Road, in the Northridge Crossing.
