- Get More Sleep!
This is critical!! Do your best to get 7-8 hours a night. Being active during the day and avoiding afternoon naps can help you get a better night sleep.
- Be Active!
Several health conditions can be improved by mild to moderate physical activity. Check with your insurance plan to see if you’re eligible for the SilverSneakers program for access to a local fitness center! (https://www.silversneakers.com/benefits/do-i-have-it)
Even if you can only set aside about 20-30 minutes a day, do something from home! Walk around your neighborhood, do an exercise video, stretch, etc.
- Workout Your Brain!
Read more, do Sudoku or crossword puzzles. Or… did you know many local colleges have discounts or even free classes for senior citizens? It’s never too late to be a student! Check out this list if you’re interested!
- Eat Better!
Mix in more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish, low-fat dairy, and healthy fats.
- Volunteer More!
There are so many wonderful places in the area that always need volunteers. Making time to give back, especially with family and friends, is a great goal for 2016. Visit here to find a list of opportunities in the Knoxville area!
