Additional New Features

Medicare has also added some features and additional coverage. The two most important changes that will have a positive impact on most Medicare cardholders are:

  • ELIMINATION OF THE DONUT HOLE for brand name medications
  • Medicare Advantage Plan test drive from January 1st through March 31st

Other changes include increased access to occupational, physical, and speech therapy for those on Original Medicare since therapy cap has been eliminated. Medicare will start covering tele-medicine services via online or telephone for stroke care and for people with end-stage renal disease. Those on Medicare Advantage will have access to lifestyle support like meal delivery, transportation and the services of home health aides if the plan chooses to offer those benefits.
